Life’s Greatest Treasure
A friend once asked me, “What is life’s greatest treasure?” I stood there, speechless and confused. The question was both strange and alarming. I did not have the answer then.
I have spent over four years as a member of the St. Vincent de Paul association. It is an association concerned with helping the needy. Over time spent as a Vincentian, I came across an answer to the question. Every time we clothe the naked, we feed the hungry, we make monetary donations to the poor or we visit the lonely to make their day special. I see it, life’s greatest treasure: the smile on their faces, that feeling of gratitude, the show of love, from just a simple expression of affection towards these people. Such can never be taken away. That is life’s greatest treasure. That is what it means to be a Vincentian – service. Kingsley, AARON-ONUIGBO. Class of 2020
