All House Feast Day 2016

All House Feast Day 2016

IN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH, the month of November is a period of remembering and celebrating the dead in a special way. November 1st is the Solemnity of All Saints; November 2nd is All Souls, a day we commemorate the faithful departed. The feast of All Saints is also a day we celebrate All House Feast Day in Loyola Jesuit College. On this day, we deepen our knowledge of the saints/blessed after whose names the four houses in LJC are called—Ignatius of Loyola, Francis Xavier, John Francis Regis and Cornelia Connelly.
Dressed in our traditional wears, the day started with rising at 7 am. Afterward, we had our breakfast, which was quite sumptuous. Mass followed, during which representatives of the four houses made a short presentation on the Saint/blessed in drama, poem, and song.
After the Mass, there was tea-break and then, a novelty soccer match between the male staff of the college and the male students. I was part of the student team that played the match. It was a very exciting match and we defeated the staff team with three goals to nil.
After the match, we had lunch and then siesta; and we had a carnival after siesta. It was a very fun day as there were lots of interesting games to play. After the carnival, the day went on as normal with dinner, study hall and, finally, night cap.
To me, the day was a very fun and significant one, because it was a day for all
students to enjoy themselves and take a break from school work.
