Ash Wednesday
Ash Wednesday is always a solemn period for everyone in the school. The mass is different because students and staff are blessed with ashes on our foreheads as a reminder that we are from dust, and to dust we shall return. It marks the beginning of the abstinence period for most Catholics. It also marks the beginning of a deep spiritual journey to rend our hearts and medidate on God’s compassionate love for all humanity. In a way, I think that we all come to terms with the fact of our fragility and how humble we should be when we stand before God. Personally, it is a time for me to look towards God in a unique way, admiring the merciful Heart of His Son who came to open the gates of Heaven to all those who believe.
